Turnip rape "ENIGMA" – a highly productive diploid variety of type 00, developed by the All-Russian Research Institute of Rapeseed. The plant is characterized by an average height of 146 cm and light green leaves with moderate leaf lobing. Flowering occurs early, and the petals have an orange-yellow hue. The lower pod is about 73 cm high, with a long beak that contributes to good development of cotyledons.
The variety is distinguished by high seed yield – averaging 18.9 c/ha with a growing season of 292–297 days. Fat content in seeds ranges from 44.8% (from 44.0 to 45.5%), and protein content is 21.2–22.3%. Seeds are round and dark reddish-brown in color. Due to low glucosinolate content in meal (≈0.64%) and erucic acid in oil (0.14–0.25%), the resulting oil and meal possess high quality.
"ENIGMA" is resistant to major diseases – shows weak susceptibility to alternaria and fusarium, and cruciferous flea beetles and rapeseed budworm affect the plant to a moderate degree. The variety also demonstrates good winter hardiness (3.8 points), lodging resistance (4.6 points), and shattering resistance (3.4 points). This makes it suitable for growing both for seeds and as fodder and early nectar-producing plant. Due to the combination of high productivity, seed quality, and resistance to unfavorable conditions, turnip rape "ENIGMA" is a reliable choice for farmers seeking stable yields and quality feed materials.
