Sunflower VA 389-SUR

Harvesting Rhythm and Efficiency

For an agronomist, VA 389-SUR is primarily about predictable timing. With a growing season of just 80–90 days, this sunflower allows you to finish harvesting in a very tight window, which is critical during volatile autumn weather. Field management requires minimal attention to fungicide application: the selection from VNIIMK has proven its worth. Genetic resistance to a complex of rot (white and gray), phomopsis, phoma, and downy mildew eliminates the need for excessive chemical intervention.

Field Ergonomics

The plant exhibits an optimal habitus: a height range of 140–170 cm allows harvesting machinery to operate smoothly without losses at the cutting height. The medium-sized head simplifies the threshing process, preventing the header clogging often associated with large-headed hybrids. The black, spherical-elongated seeds are easy to thresh, which reduces the percentage of unthreshed kernels and damage during combine adjustments.

Technical Specifications

• Condensed Cycle: staying in the field for only 3 months minimizes weather-related risks.
• Protection: built-in immunity significantly lowers pesticide expenditures.
• Manageability: uniform growth and even stands allow for stable threshing drum RPMs without constant adjustments.

VA 389-SUR is forgiving of minor agronomic errors due to its strong potential and high adaptability. It is a workhorse for those who value predictable results and need high-quality yield within a short agronomic window.
