Sunflower Union

Working with the "Union" sunflower hybrid

When choosing seeds from Ooo Npo Altaj, specifically the "Union" hybrid, agronomists primarily value its technological adaptability. This sunflower is designed for those accustomed to the "Clearfield" (Euro-Lightning) production system. The ability to control a broad spectrum of weeds without fearing crop suppression simplifies field management and reduces the need for frequent mechanical weeding.

Agronomic features and field performance

A plant height of 170–180 cm ensures convenience during harvest: the hybrid is not prone to lodging and matures uniformly, which minimizes grain losses at the header. For combine operators, the uniformity of the crops is a key factor — "Union" delivers predictable results across different soil types.

• Oil Content: Consistently maintains a 50–55% level, which is an excellent benchmark for elevator intake and allows for more favorable pricing.
• Phytosanitary Status: Resistance to downy mildew and effective protection against powdery mildew reduce the need for constant fungicide applications during the active growth phase. This lightens the workload on sprayers and decreases the total cost of production per hectare.

Farmers working with "Union" note that the hybrid is forgiving of minor errors in sowing dates while maintaining yield potential. It acts as a reliable "workhorse" that requires a standard approach to mineral nutrition but yields consistent results under the challenging climatic conditions typical for the regions served by Npo Altaj.
