Sunflower hybrid SUPER SUMO is a high-yielding and drought-tolerant variety developed by Serbian selection NS Seme under the technology of herbicide Granstar (tribenuron-methyl). This hybrid features a medium-early vegetation period — from 105 to 111 days, as well as relatively low plant height within the range of 150–175 cm, facilitating care and harvest. Seeds are large, black, with a 1,000-seed mass ranging from 50 to 58 grams, indicating high quality of seed material.
Hybrid SUPER SUMO has high yield potential up to 5.5 tons per hectare with oil content in seeds ranging from 49–53%. It demonstrates drought tolerance, making it suitable for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe regions. Recommended seeding density is 55–60 thousand plants per hectare, with possible reduction to 45–55 thousand in dry conditions for optimal growth and maximum yield.
Special attention has been given to the hybrid's resistance to diseases and pests. SUPER SUMO exhibits high tolerance to downy mildew (including six to seven races), powdery mildew, rust, peronosporosis, fomopsis, fomosis, septoria, white and gray rot, and alternaria, with resistance ratings on a 10-point scale ranging from 7 to 9 points. For improved planting efficiency, it is recommended to treat seeds with Maxim 035 and the growth stimulant Evrostim, promoting better germination and plant development.
