Larissa

The winter rapeseed variety Larissa, developed by the seed breeding company "RAPS GbR" from Germany, is a branched plant about 125 cm tall with elongated-oval green leaves and yellow flowers arranged in a racemose inflorescence. The stem of this variety lacks anthocyanin pigmentation, and its pods, 6.4 cm long, are devoid of hairs. Larissa seeds are round, black or dark-brown in color, which is characteristic of this variety.

This variety is mid-early maturing, with a vegetation period of 105-110 days. It is erucic acid-free and low-glucosinolate, making it especially valuable for food oil production. The average yield reaches 25.3 centners per hectare, with maximum yields up to 33.5 centners per hectare. The oil content in the seeds is 38.9%, while glucosinolate levels are low — 0.85%. Protein content in the meal reaches 27.9%, indicating high quality of the by-product after oil extraction.

Larissa variety oil has very low erucic acid content — only 0.06% — meeting modern quality standards. Its composition is dominated by oleic acid (61.3%), with significant proportions of linoleic (20.6%) and linolenic (9.6%) acids. In addition to oil production, Larissa rapeseed is a valuable honey plant, aiding beekeepers in collecting high-quality honey. Thus, this variety combines high productivity, product quality, and ecological value.
