Sunflower SA 486 A

Efficient weed control and yield stability

The SA 486 A sunflower hybrid from Nuseed Europe is designed for farmers utilizing intensive cultivation practices, specifically those incorporating herbicide-tolerant systems. By choosing this hybrid, growers ensure effective control of weeds and parasites using the EURO-LIGHTNING (Clearfield) technology, which clears the way for maximum yield potential.

Agronomic performance

With a plant height of 160–170 cm, SA 486 A is engineered for stability and ease of harvest. Its robust architecture is matched by a comprehensive disease resistance package, which is essential for maintaining crop integrity throughout the season. Key resistance traits include:

• High tolerance to White Mold and Gray Mold.
• Effective defense against Downy Mildew.
• Strong resistance to Phomopsis and Phoma.

This natural resilience significantly reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications, making it a cost-effective solution for large-scale operations.

Market value and oil content

A standout feature of SA 486 A is its consistent oil content of 50–55%. For producers focused on oil processing, this hybrid offers a premium product. The use of the EURO-LIGHTNING herbicide system not only cleans the field but also allows the plant to focus its metabolic energy on oil synthesis and seed filling. This makes SA 486 A a reliable choice for regions where field pressure from weeds and pathogens is high, providing the consistency that modern agricultural businesses demand.
