R 453 — an early-maturing high-oil sunflower variety with high yield potential and stability under various climatic conditions. The vegetative period is 106–108 days, allowing for harvest in a short time. Plants reach a height of about 178–190 cm, and the mass of 1000 seeds is approximately 58 g. Potential seed yield can reach 3.2 t/ha, while seed oil content varies from 52 to 53%, ensuring high oil output — up to 1.5 t/ha.
The variety is distinguished by high drought resistance and resistance to major diseases and pests, including phoma, sclerotinia, downy mildew, sunflower moth, and a complex of sunflower stem rust (A-E). Thanks to these qualities, R 453 demonstrates stable yield even in unfavorable conditions. The recommended plant density at harvest is up to 45 thousand plants per hectare in main crops and up to 35 thousand plants per hectare in post-harvest and post-mowing crops.
The R 453 variety is suitable for cultivation throughout Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus, as well as in various regions of Russia, including the Volga-Vyatka, Central Black Earth, North Caucasian, Middle Volga, Lower Volga, and Ural regions. It is used both for producing sunflower oil and in natural form, making it a universal and in-demand choice for agricultural producers.
