Hybrid sunflower Protector is a medium-early linoleic variety intended for cultivation in arid climates and regions with high prevalence of virulent strains of downy mildew and false powdery mildew. It exhibits high homozygous resistance to downy mildew race G and genetic resistance to several strains of false powdery mildew, making it a reliable choice for organic farming and ExpressSun® herbicide technology. The vegetation period of the hybrid is approximately 104 days, corresponding to the early maturity group, and plant height is average, facilitating ease of agronomic operations.
Protector is characterized by a high oil content in seeds — about 48%, with a linseed content of 25%, ensuring good oil yield. The hybrid demonstrates adaptability to growing conditions and good yield potential even under drought conditions, making it optimal for cultivation in steppe and forest-steppe zones, as well as in the eastern and southern regions. It is recommended for fields affected by diseases such as rust and sclerotinia, with fungicide application advised for protection against these diseases.
A distinctive feature of the hybrid is its resistance to a broad spectrum of sunflower parasite strains — aphids (strains A-G), providing maximum control over this pest. For effective application of ExpressSun® herbicide technology, the maximum single application rate of Express™ 75, WG is 50 g. The hybrid is genetically close to the variety Fakel, confirming its reliability and stability in agronomic use.
