Magnus

Magnus sunflower is a high-yielding, early-maturing hybrid with a vegetation period of 105-110 days, developed for the Express technology under the herbicide Granstar. This hybrid is characterized by high adaptability to stressful conditions and tolerance to soil type and moisture level, allowing successful cultivation in all climatic zones of Ukraine, including Forest-Steppe, Steppe, and Polissia. Plants reach a height of up to 178 cm, have a flat, semi-tilted head with a diameter of about 26 cm, and oil content in the seeds reaches 50%, making it a valuable oilseed variety with a potential yield of up to 55 centners per hectare.

The Magnus hybrid exhibits high resistance to adverse factors: drought, lodging, and shattering, each rated at 9 points on the resistance scale. Additionally, it shows significant resistance to major sunflower diseases such as phomopsis and phomosis (9 points), gray and white mold (8 points), as well as rust and false powdery mildew (7 points). Thanks to the ability to be treated with herbicides at early vegetative stages, the hybrid effectively combats broadleaf and grass weeds, promoting vigorous plant growth and development.

To achieve optimal yield, sunflower should be sown when the average daily temperature exceeds +5 degrees Celsius. Sowing rates depend on soil moisture: under adequate moisture, the optimal plant density is 55-60 thousand plants per hectare; under moderate moisture — 50-55 thousand; and under insufficient moisture — up to 50 thousand. Seeds are available in Standard and Extra fractions, in packages of 150 thousand seeds. The Magnus hybrid demonstrates stable performance even under extensive cultivation practices and adverse weather conditions, making it a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain high-quality sunflower yields.
