Sunflower Magura

Optimizing harvest cycles with Magura sunflower

For agricultural producers focusing on efficient crop rotation and risk mitigation, the Magura hybrid from Dobrudzhansky Zemedelsky Ynstytut offers a reliable solution. With a vegetation period of 90–100 days, this hybrid is designed for those who need to harvest early, ensuring that fields are ready for subsequent winter crop sowing without unnecessary delays.

Field performance and technical traits

The hybrid, developed by breeder Mikhail Nikolov Khristov, is characterized by its plant structure. Standing at 170–180 cm tall, the plants are resilient against lodging, facilitating smooth operations for combine harvesters. The flattened head shape contributes to uniform maturation of seeds, which is a critical factor for reducing harvest losses.

• Pathogen resistance: Magura exhibits strong genetic resistance to downy mildew (peronosporosis) and phomopsis, which significantly reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications during the late growth stages.
• Harvest efficiency: Its early maturity allows for better logistical planning, spreading out the workload during the peak autumn harvest season.

By choosing Magura, farmers gain a balanced hybrid that combines stable yield performance with robust protection against major sunflower diseases, making it a dependable choice for modern field operations.
