Sunflower L 25

Focus on Oil Content and Adaptability

The sunflower hybrid L 25 by Melkom Agro has carved out a niche for farmers prioritizing yield stability in volatile climate conditions and intensive crop management. As a mid-season hybrid, L 25 is engineered to deliver high oil content, a critical factor for the profitability of commercial sunflower production.

Agronomic Profile and Resistance

The standout feature of L 25 is its robust genetic resistance. Over a vegetation period of 100–110 days, the plant demonstrates strong resilience against key pathogens:

• Downy mildew (Peronospora): reliable protection during all developmental stages.
• Phomopsis and Phoma: effective resistance against fungal infections of the stalk and head, minimizing lodging risks and seed quality degradation.

This hybrid is a strategic choice for operations employing the Clearfield production system. Its tolerance to imidazolinone herbicides (Euro-Lightning) allows growers to effectively manage weed pressure and control major broomrape races, ensuring the crop remains stress-free during its most critical growth stages.

Market Positioning and Productivity

Melkom Agro has optimized the L 25 for high oil accumulation, with content ranging from 50% to 55%. This places the hybrid in a premium category for processors seeking high-quality feedstock with maximum yield output. The efficient 100–110 day vegetation cycle makes it highly adaptable to various climatic zones, facilitating timely harvest and reducing post-harvest drying costs.

L 25 stands as a balanced solution for growers seeking a proven, weed-resistant hybrid that meets the rigorous quality standards of modern sunflower breeding.
