Sunflower GRANER

Technology and Yield: The Potential of Graner Sunflower

In the context of modern field management, the choice of seed material is shifting towards hybrids capable of effectively combating weeds while maintaining stable oil content. The sunflower hybrid "Graner," introduced by the Russian NPO "Galaktika," belongs to a generation of intensive crops adapted for the "Clearfield" (Euro-Lightning) system.

Agronomic Profile and Cultivation Features

Graner is a simple hybrid that demonstrates predictable development dynamics. Its vegetation period ranges from 100 to 110 days, making it an optimal solution for regions with temperate climates, allowing growers to avoid risks associated with late autumn frosts or extreme droughts in late July. With a stem height of 170–180 cm, the crop shows excellent crop uniformity, which is critical for mechanized harvesting.

One of the key features attracting agronomists is its resistance to imidazolinone herbicides. Utilizing Euro-Lightning technology allows for the control of nearly the entire spectrum of weeds and broomrape, minimizing the need for inter-row cultivation and preserving the integrity of the sunflower's root system. This directly impacts the final oil content of the seeds, which reaches 45–50% in commercial sowings.

Field Specifications

• Head shape: Flattened, which facilitates better aeration and reduces the risk of gray mold infection.
• Head size: Medium, ensuring optimal seed density and uniform ripening.
• Originator: NPO "Galaktika" (Russia).

Choosing this hybrid is a strategic bet on the balance between technological flexibility and biological yield. Thanks to the combination of Galaktika’s genetic potential and herbicide resistance, "Graner" consistently finds its niche in farms focused on professional crop production and the acquisition of high-quality raw materials for the processing industry.
