Sunflower Golda

Working with "Golda"

When you enter the field with the Golda sunflower hybrid by Ooo Global Sids, the first thing you notice is the uniformity of the crop. For an agronomist, this is the most critical metric: if the hybrid grows consistently, the harvesting process becomes a matter of routine rather than a series of unpleasant surprises. With a plant height of 190–200 cm, the operator’s work is simplified; the crop does not lodge, and the seed heads are positioned at the perfect height for the combine header, minimizing gathering losses.

Field Performance and Oil Content

The hybrid has enough time to accumulate biomass and reach full maturity before the long autumn rains set in. In terms of oil content, Golda consistently hits the 50–55% range. The large seed size facilitates easier planting and ensures vigorous emergence right from the start.

Operational Insights

• Planting: Because the seeds are large, you must calibrate the seeding unit precisely to ensure uniform distribution and avoid skips.
• Maintenance: Being a simple hybrid, Golda is very predictable regarding crop management. It requires standard protection measures without any specific “moodiness.”
• Harvesting: Due to the uniform height, the combine operator can maintain a steady speed with minimal adjustments to the header, ensuring efficient clearing of the heads.

Bottom line: Golda is a reliable “workhorse” for those who prefer proven results over risky experiments. The plant is hardy, not demanding in terms of specific technology, and keeps operational costs manageable while delivering strong oil yields.
