ES Biba

The ES Biba sunflower hybrid belongs to the group of ultrapreearly and low-growing varieties, ensuring rapid early growth and early maturity. The period from germination to flowering is 66 days, and harvest can be obtained as early as day 104. Plant height reaches about 145 cm, which contributes to good resistance to lodging and reduces the risk of damage under adverse weather conditions. Due to these characteristics, the hybrid is especially well-suited for cultivation in Central, Western, and Northern regions of Ukraine, where the number of active temperatures is limited. Field trials in southern regions were not conducted.

ES Biba exhibits high resistance to major sunflower diseases such as Phomopsis, Phomopsis, and sclerotinia, confirmed by resistance ratings of 9 points. Drought tolerance and lodging resistance are also at a high level — 8 points each — making this hybrid a reliable choice under variable climate conditions and stress factors. Recommended planting density varies depending on soil moisture level: 50-55 thousand plants per hectare under insufficient moisture and 60-65 thousand under adequate moisture.

The yield potential of ES Biba reaches 50 centners per hectare, with average yields in central regions of Ukraine ranging from 32-36 centners per hectare, and in western regions — 24-26 centners per hectare. Oil content in seeds reaches 50%, making this hybrid attractive for high-quality sunflower oil production. The hybrid is produced by Euralis Semences (France), ensuring high-quality seed material and compliance with modern agronomic requirements.
