Description Chigirin
Chigirin sunflower is a high-tech, high-yielding hybrid developed for cultivation under various soil-climatic conditions, particularly in forest-steppe and steppe zones. It is distinguished by its high adaptability, allowing it to successfully adjust to different soil types and moisture levels. The vegetation period is 110-112 days, making it a mid-early maturing variety with optimal ripening times.

The Chigirin hybrid has high yield potential, reaching 4.1-4.2 tons per hectare, and oil content of approximately 50.3%. Seed oil content is 22-24%, facilitating efficient oil extraction with oil yield up to 1.8-1.85 tons per hectare. Plants are uniform in height, facilitating mechanized harvesting and reducing losses during storage due to low seed shattering.

A special advantage of this hybrid is its resistance to pests and diseases, particularly to new strains of downy mildew (strains A-F) and false powdery mildew (strain 730). This ensures stable yields even under adverse conditions. Recommended planting density at harvest time is 55-60 thousand plants per hectare in areas with sufficient moisture and 50-55 thousand in areas with insufficient moisture. The hybrid was registered in the Ukrainian Register in 2014 and is the result of breeding work by the National Center for Seed Science and Variety Testing.
