LUBAVA — a high-yielding mid-season variety of table beet that matures within 100-115 days from germination to harvest. The root crops of this variety are round, smooth, weighing from 130 to 250 grams, without rings and coarse fibers, ensuring their tender, juicy, and sweet dark red flesh. Beet LUBAVA is characterized by high marketable yield — 8-9 kg per square meter, as well as yield stability and uniformity of root crops. The dry matter content in root crops is 15.3-17.3%, and total sugar — 10.1-13.2%, making it particularly valuable for culinary use and canning.
The leaves of the variety are oval, green, with moderate wavy edges, and the petiole is colored red on the lower side. Root crops do not crack and have weak head aging, which contributes to their long-term storage during the winter period without loss of taste qualities. The output of marketable product reaches 86-98%, which confirms the high efficiency of the variety for growing both in private holdings and in commercial production.
For growing LUBAVA, sowing in open ground in the second half of May at a depth of 2-3 cm with inter-row spacing of 25-30 cm is recommended. After sowing, the soil should be rolled. Thinning is carried out twice: the first — at the stage of two true leaves with a distance of 4 cm between plants left, the second — at the stage of five leaves with a distance of 8-10 cm. Care includes regular watering, loosening and weeding, as well as top dressing with mineral fertilizers: nitrogenous at the beginning of ripening and potassium-phosphorus in the second period. Watering stops two weeks before harvest. Harvesting is carried out in late August — early September before the onset of frost. Seeds of the variety maintain biological viability for up to 4 years with proper storage.
