Aleksandrit

Soybean variety Alexandrite is a fast-maturing grain variety registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2013. Developed by breeders L.G. Belyavskaya and FG 'Griga', this variety is characterized by high stability and versatility, allowing successful cultivation in various agroclimatic zones of Ukraine, including the Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe. The vegetation period is 100–105 days, ensuring early harvest. Plants have an intermediate growth type with a height of 71–90 cm and a semi-compact bush form. The lower pods are located 13–15 cm above the ground, and the number of nodes on the main stem varies from 10 to 15. Leaves are of medium size, broadly egg-shaped with a rounded apex, and flower corolla color is purple. The 1000-seed mass is 170–180 g, with seed coat yellow with a linear light-brown hilum. Soybean Alexandrite is characterized by high protein content — 37–39% and fat — 19–22%, making it attractive for grain production. Yield reaches 2.8–3.0 t/ha (28–30 c/ha), with plants showing resistance to major bacterial and viral diseases, as well as lodging and shattering. The variety has a neutral photoperiodic response and good drought tolerance, facilitating adaptation to diverse soil-climatic conditions. Soybean Alexandrite quickly reaches the desired moisture level at maturity, eliminating the need for additional drying of grain. Recommended for grain production in steppe and forest-steppe regions of Ukraine, as well as in Polissia. Due to its combination of high yield, quality seed composition, and resistance to stress factors, this variety is a profitable choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality soybean harvest.
