Sweet sorghum variety «Larets» is a high-yielding culture distinguished by good resistance to shattering, lodging, and stem breakage. Plants of this variety are uniform in height and seed maturation time, reaching an average height of 220–240 cm at maturity. The stem is juicy and capable of accumulating up to 15% sugars in the juice, making this variety especially valuable for sugar production. Leaves are green with yellow veins; there are 9–10 of them on the main stem, and the ear is symmetrical, upright, and dense. The grain is oval, brownish-brown, and glabrous, maturing in medium terms. The «Larets» variety is characterized by medium ripening and weak anthocyanin coloration of seedlings. Typically, there are up to 8 leaves on the main stem with very weak pubescence. The ear of the plant is short or of medium length, dense and upright, with round florets. The glume scales acquire a brick-red hue upon maturation, and the awn of the lower floret glume is either absent or developed very weakly. The grain of the variety is round and brown, which corresponds to the typical characteristics of sweet sorghum. Sweet sorghum variety «Larets» is recommended for creating heterotic hybrids and harvesting green mass, which is confirmed by its high yield: up to 500 centners of green mass and 150 centners of dry matter per hectare. Due to its qualities and characteristics, this variety is widely used in agriculture for sugar production and feed purposes, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield.
