Sunflower NS-H-6046, also known as the Avalon hybrid of Serbian selection, is a high-yielding classic hybrid with pronounced genetic resistance to more than seven races of sunflower downy mildew (Peronospora), including races A-G+. This hybrid exhibits high tolerance to major diseases such as Phomopsis, Phomoz, Alternaria, rust, Septoria, downy mildew, and various rots, significantly enhancing its resistance and reliability in cultivation. Plant height reaches 175-185 cm, head diameter is 24-26 cm, and oil content in seeds varies from 48 to 52%.
NS-H-6046 possesses high drought and cold resistance, enabling successful cultivation in dry climates of southern Ukraine, such as Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kirovohrad regions. Potential yield of this hybrid reaches 53 c/ha (5.3 t/ha), with optimal planting density of 55-60 thousand plants per hectare for forest-steppe zone and 45-50 thousand for dry steppe. These parameters ensure maximum productivity and quality of harvest.
Vegetation period of sunflower NS-H-6046 is 102-107 days, allowing efficient planning of agronomic activities. Resistance to lodging and shattering is rated 9 points, to drought and cold resistance — 7 points, and to major diseases — from 7 to 9 points depending on the pathogen. Thanks to the combination of high yield, disease resistance, and tolerance to adverse weather conditions, the Avalon hybrid is a reliable choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality sunflower harvest.
