Astun sunflower is a mid-early simple hybrid developed by the Ukrainian company ART-AGRO for cultivation using the Express technology under the herbicide Granstar. The vegetation period is approximately 108 days, enabling a stable yield in central regions of Ukraine. Plants reach a height of about 165 cm, and the flower head diameter ranges from 20 to 22 cm. The hybrid is characterized by high drought resistance and resistance to new strains of downy mildew (wolf), ensuring reliability and stable yield.
The potential yield of Astun sunflower reaches 55-58 centners per hectare, with oil content in seeds up to 55%. Seeds are treated with fungicides carbendazim and metalaxyl-M for disease protection. The hybrid shows high resistance to diseases such as downy mildew, fusarium, phomopsis, sclerotinia, and white rot, further enhancing the quality and quantity of the harvest.
For optimal cultivation, a planting density of 55-65 thousand plants per hectare is recommended. Seeds are packed in bags of 150,000 units, sufficient for treating an area of 2.2-2.5 hectares. To store the harvest, humidity should be maintained at 85% or lower, and temperature not exceeding 25°C. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptation to conditions in central regions of Ukraine, Astun sunflower is a profitable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality oilseed crop yields.
