Malaga soybean variety is a high-protein mid-season variety recommended for cultivation in the Polesie region, forest-steppe zone, and Central Chernozem region, including Tambov Oblast. Plants have medium height of 71-90 cm, semi-erect growth habit with reddish-brown hairs on the main stem and purple flowers. Seeds are large, spherical-pressed, yellow in color with light or yellow hilum, weight of 1000 seeds around 190-205 g. The variety exhibits high resistance to diseases, lodging, drought, and stress conditions, ensuring stable yields.
Vegetation period is 110-115 days, with pre-harvest maturity reached at the beginning of September. Malaga is characterized by high yield potential, reaching 4.5-5.5 t/ha (45-55 c/ha), placing it among the leaders in its group. Plants exhibit excellent branching at early vegetative stages, and pods start forming at a height of 11-15 cm. The variety demonstrates high growth vigor and rapid seed germination, which contributes to successful development under various soil-climatic conditions.
To achieve maximum productivity, sowing is recommended on soils with medium to high fertility, with application of optimal rates of mineral fertilizers. Recommended plant density at harvest time is 450-550 thousand plants/ha. Protein content in seeds reaches 32.4%, and fat content — 24.1%, making Malaga an attractive variety for grain use and high-quality raw material production.
