Schackenborg Rose is an exquisite Floribunda group variety, bred in Denmark in 1998 by breeders Olesen. The plants grow to a height of 60–90 cm and a width of about 50–60 cm, upright, bushy, and covered with glossy dark green leaves that give the bush fullness and elegance. The flowers are large, 8–15 cm in diameter, densely double, cup-shaped, and have up to 40 petals. Their color ranges from salmon-pink to pink-orange, and as they age, they take on a silvery-pink hue, creating the effect of two varieties on one bush. Flowers are arranged singly or in clusters of 1–3 or 3–5 on stems and have a soft, delicate fragrance.
The flowering of Schackenborg Rose is abundant and prolonged, starting at the end of May – beginning of June and continuing until frost, sometimes until October–November. The rose is highly resistant to diseases and pests, as well as frost-tolerant, allowing it to remain outdoors without winter protection. The plant prefers fertile, well-drained, and moist soils, requires regular watering and feeding during active flowering, as well as periodic pruning before and after blooming to maintain its decorative appearance.
This variety is widely used in landscape design for flower beds, borders, rose gardens, and mixed borders, and is suitable for container plantings on terraces and patios. Thanks to its resilience to weather conditions, including scorching sun and heavy rain, as well as its prolonged flowering, Schackenborg Rose is an excellent choice for creating vibrant and fragrant garden compositions. Even after cutting, the flowers retain their freshness and fragrance, making them popular for floral arrangements.
