Norita Rose is a climbing variety developed in France in 1966 by breeder Maurice Combe. The bushes of this variety are strong-growing, with flexible and elastic stems reaching a height of 2.5 to 3.5 meters and a width of up to 1 meter. The flowers are large, 10-12 cm in diameter, heavily double, composed of more than 50 velvety petals. The coloration feature is the combination of nearly black outer petals and a noble dark-red hue of the inner ones. Blooming is prolonged and abundant — from May or June until September–October, depending on climatic conditions. The flowers emit a delicate and intense fragrance, and the bushes have high thorniness.
For successful cultivation of Norita roses, it is recommended to select well-lit areas without drafts and stagnant water, preferably on the southern side. The soil should be moderately fertile, light, well-drained, with the addition of sand and manure. Planting is carried out in spring (from mid-April to the end of May) or early autumn. When planting, it is important to ensure drainage at the bottom of the hole and carefully position the root system, then compact the soil around the roots and mulch. The rose tolerates heat, temperature fluctuations, and autumn frosts well, with cold resistance reaching -30°C, although it is recommended to remove branches and insulate the plant for winter.
The Norita variety is characterized by healthy, glossy foliage resistant to most diseases, reducing the need for frequent preventive treatments. The rose is ideal for decorating columns, arches, and pergolas, thanks to its long and flexible stems. Watering should be performed at the root every 7-10 days, and pruning should be done at the beginning of spring and end of autumn. This variety is valued for its decorative appeal, prolonged blooming, and resilience, making it a popular choice among gardeners.
