Rosa Lilly Marlen is one of the most well-known and time-tested floribunda varieties, bred in 1959 by the German breeder Reimer Cordes. This variety is noted for its hardiness and high frost resistance, tolerating temperatures down to –26.1 °C. The bushes are compact, 50–70 cm tall and about 60 cm wide, covered with small dark leaves, and bloom profusely from early summer until the first autumn frosts, approximately until October. This rose is suitable for cultivation both outdoors and indoors, making it a versatile choice for various garden types and even small plots. The flowers of Lilly Marlen have a rich blood-red hue with a velvety texture, opening from burgundy-black conical buds. Flowers form in clusters of 3–15 blooms, creating the impression that the bush is constantly covered in blossoms. The color remains vibrant throughout the season, does not fade in the sun, and does not change in rainy weather. Due to its decorative appeal and vividness, this rose is ideal for creating striking focal points in the garden, as well as for cut flowers and bouquet arrangements. Rosa Lilly Marlen requires regular care: during the growing season, fertilizers should be applied, watering should be consistent, and spent blooms should be removed to maintain its decorative appearance. The plant is resistant to fungal diseases, but preventive measures against powdery mildew and black spot are recommended. Suitable for solitary and mass plantings in flower beds, borders, and flower arrangements, it prefers sunny or partially shaded locations. Thanks to its resilience and striking appearance, Lilly Marlen remains a popular variety for over 40 years.
