Gasanov Memorial is a decorative rosehip variety, characterized by a medium-sized bush with a height of 1.5 to 2 meters and a diameter of about 1.5 meters. The plant has thick, green, curved stems covered with numerous thin, light-colored thorns. The leaves are dark green, leathery, glossy, and wrinkled, giving the bush an attractive appearance throughout the growing season. Inflorescences consist of 6-9 large white flowers that adorn the plant and make it popular for greening and landscape design. Rosehip flowers are large, about 7 cm in diameter, and a bright pinkish-red color, adding decorative value to the plant. The fruits are large, round, slightly flattened, bright red, and fleshy, with medium-thick skin and a mass of about 7.7 grams. The berries have a sweet-and-sour taste without a pronounced aroma and contain a high amount of vitamin C – up to 920 mg%. Thanks to this, the fruits are suitable for preparing vitamin compotes, drinks, jams, freezing, and medicinal wines with immunomodulating and healing properties, and are also used for diseases of the stomach and liver. The variety is distinguished by high frost resistance and resistance to diseases and pests, while being sensitive to soil waterlogging. It tolerates drought well and is able to grow on poor soils, making it an undemanding and tough plant. Thanks to long and abundant flowering, as well as resistance to powdery mildew and other parasites, Gasanov Memorial is an excellent choice for decorating flower beds and rose gardens, as well as for industrial processing and greening in various regions.
