AZOS-6 rootstock – the result of selection by the Anapa Zonal Vineyard and Winemaking Experimental Station, intended for use in the Black Sea zone of Krasnodar Krai. It is distinguished by high resistance to phylloxera and chlorosis, as well as a short vegetative period, which allows reducing the time required for bushes to reach the stage of cutting preparation.
One of the key features of AZOS-6 rootstocks is the high yield of standard half-meter cuttings per hectare. This makes them attractive for breeding new grape varieties resistant to diseases and adapted to the climatic conditions of the region. Thanks to high productivity and ease of preparation, this rootstock ensures economic efficiency of production.
In addition to these characteristics, within the framework of the research, a new training system for rootstocks with free drooping shoots named «AOS-1» was developed, which increases labor productivity during bush pruning and cutting preparation. This technology reduces costs for fighting diseases and pests, and also increases the yield of grafted cuttings by 27–33%. In conclusion, AZOS-6 represents a reliable and productive material for expanding the potential of viticulture in the Black Sea zone.
