Rapeseed Hybrid Sokolovsky

Winter Rapeseed "Sokolivskyi": Yield and Field Performance

Selecting the right seeds for winter rapeseed is a critical task. The "Sokolivskyi" variety from NUBiP of Ukraine proves that local selection can match the performance of intensive hybrids while offering better reliability across varying field conditions. With a potential yield of 60–70 dt/ha, this variety has earned its place as a staple for many agricultural producers.

In practice, the key to success with "Sokolivskyi" lies in managing plant density. The recommended rate of 500,000 to 700,000 seeds per hectare provides the ideal balance between individual plant development and canopy density. The variety features a robust taproot system, which is essential for surviving winter conditions in the Ukrainian climate.

Key Features and Clearfield Compatibility

One of the strongest selling points for this rapeseed is its full compatibility with the Clearfield (imidazolinone) herbicide system. This provides a significant advantage in weed management, allowing for effective control of difficult weeds like wild mustard or radish species without damaging the crop. This simplifies the spray schedule and reduces the overall chemical stress on the field.

• Yield Potential: Achieves 60–70 dt/ha with proper nitrogen management.
• Reliability: As a population variety, it is less sensitive to extreme sowing delays compared to ultra-intensive hybrids.
• Harvestability: Consistent maturity levels allow for efficient straight combining with minimal harvesting losses.

For the farm operator, "Sokolivskyi" is a predictable and manageable variety. It performs consistently under various fertilization regimes and offers the flexibility that busy operations require. It represents a solid investment for those who prioritize a balance between input costs and high yield output.
