Portulaca PRINCELY CARPET WHITE

Aesthetic Appeal Meets Functional Value

The «Knyazhesky Kovrik Belyi» (Prince’s Carpet White) purslane is a pride of the Kapris farm. Developed by Vyacheslav Vasilyevich Shepelev, this variety was created to meet the needs of gardeners looking for a perfect balance between an ornamental groundcover and a functional plant. Unlike wild varieties, this hybrid offers uniform growth and consistent blooming.

Key Features

• Visual Characteristics: The plant forms a dense, emerald-green carpet. Snow-white flowers create a striking contrast against the juicy, fleshy green leaves.
• Medicinal Potential: A standout feature of this variety is its classification as a medicinal plant. Purslane is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A, C, and E, making it a valuable nutritional addition.
• Agrotechnics: The variety is undemanding regarding soil composition and drought-tolerant, which significantly reduces maintenance requirements.

Who is this for?

This variety is an optimal choice for eco-conscious landscaping or "medicinal gardens." Its ability to quickly carpet an area effectively suppresses weed growth, minimizing the need for manual weeding. However, keep in mind that purslane is highly thermophilic; therefore, planting should be planned for the sunniest, warmest areas of the plot. In the shade, the "Knyazhesky Kovrik" loses its decorative edge, becoming leggy and blooming less intensely.

The Kapris farm has successfully created a product that is not only visually stunning but also health-promoting, successfully bridging the gap between an ornamental plant and a nutritional food source.
