Purslane «MAKOVEY» is an early-maturing variety, ready for the first leaf harvest just 20–25 days after sowing. The plant has a heavily foliated structure, stem height around 30–36 cm, and smooth, crunchy, glossy leaves located on a short petiole. On average, one plant has 15 to 25 leaves, with a single plant weight of 90–110 grams.
Green mass yield reaches 1.5 kg/m², making the variety particularly valuable for home cooking and canning. Leaves and young shoots can be used fresh – they are perfect as a side dish or salad addition. Thanks to their medicinal properties, purslane «MAKOVEY» is used for kidney, liver diseases, diabetes, as well as a wound-healing agent.
The variety is easy to grow in a garden: seeds are sown into the soil at a depth of 1.0–1.5 cm, grows in warm conditions and is drought-resistant. Requires moderate care and prefers fertile soils, but is not demanding. The first green harvest is conducted 20–30 days after sowing, and usually 2–3 harvests are obtained per season. Planting interval is 10 × 20 cm, which ensures good density and ease of care.
