Sunflower Voronezh 1 is an early-maturing three-line hybrid characterized by high oil content and stable yield. The vegetative period from germination to harvest maturity is 93-95 days, allowing for earlier harvest compared to many standard varieties. The plants are tall, reaching 170-190 cm in height, with large oval black seeds of medium thickness and well-defined grey stripes. The head is of medium size, turns halfway down at maturity, with a convex seed side. Leaves are of medium size, heart-shaped, green without anthocyanin coloring, with a flat cross-section and weak blistering. The Voronezh 1 variety is distinguished by high oil content — the average fat content in seeds is about 50.8%, with a maximum reaching 52.8%. It is resistant to races C and D of Helminthosporium, moderately resistant to Phoma, and possesses high tolerance to Sclerotinia and grey mold. Meanwhile, the variety is moderately susceptible to white mold and highly susceptible to downy mildew. The plants do not branch, which facilitates the formation of large and high-quality seeds. Additionally, the seedlings withstand frost down to -5°C, ensuring good winter hardiness and adaptation to various climatic conditions of northern and middle latitudes of Russia. Voronezh 1 is also characterized by drought resistance and resistance to pests, including moths. Thanks to these qualities and high yield, averaging 21.9 c/ha and reaching up to 33 c/ha in favorable conditions, the variety is widely used for industrial cultivation. Moreover, sunflower is an excellent honey plant, making it attractive for beekeeping and promoting biodiversity in fields.
