Phlox TARAS SHEVCHENKO

Breeding Heritage: The 'Taras Shevchenko' Phlox

The 'Taras Shevchenko' phlox variety is a significant representative of the domestic breeding school, developed by experts at the Central Republican Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine. In the world of ornamental floriculture, this variety occupies a niche of classic small-flowered phloxes, valued for their resilience and purity of form. The originator of the variety is the 'Taytsy' Agro-Industrial Society, which laid the foundation for the spread of this crop among perennial enthusiasts.

Agronomic and Decorative Features

The main recognizable feature of this phlox hybrid is its compact inflorescences. The diameter of each individual flower is between 3 and 4 cm. Despite the moderate size of the corolla, the plant forms dense, neat caps that retain their decorative appeal throughout the entire blooming period. The variety is well-adapted to regional climatic conditions, making it a preferred choice for creating continuous-flowering beds, mixed borders, and group plantings in home gardens.

Market Reputation

The 'Taras Shevchenko' model from the Central Republican Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine is deservedly considered a reliable choice in landscape design. It is chosen not for its exotic form, but for its predictable development and reliability. This plant demonstrates stable survival rates and a consistent response to standard agricultural practices: fertilization, watering, and mulching. Due to its history, the variety maintains popularity among collectors of Ukrainian-bred plants, acting as a bridge between the scientific activities of botanical gardens and practical horticulture.
