CANDLELIGHT PEPPER

Candlelight pepper variety is a decorative and edible plant that attracts attention with its unusual appearance and vibrant fruits. The plant forms vertically growing fruits resembling candles, initially light green or ivory in color, which gradually change to yellow and orange, and finally to bright red and crimson as they ripen. Fruits are gathered in dense clusters against a dark malachite foliage, creating an eye-catching decorative combination. This variety was awarded the AAS Flower Competition in 1983, confirming its decorative value.

Candlelight pepper has moderate heat, varying depending on description: from 560 to 2455 Scoville units, and also from 50,000 to 70,000 units, indicating the presence of different varieties or cultivation characteristics. The fruits have a rich flavor and aroma, making them an excellent addition to various dishes, especially in Mexican cuisine, where they are used fresh in salsas, burritos, and salads, and dried as a substitute for cayenne powder. The pepper is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, enhancing its nutritional value.

Candlelight pepper can be grown both outdoors from seedlings and in flower pots. For successful growth, regular watering and periodic feeding are required. The time from planting to ripening is 75 to 100 days. The plant has moderate resistance to diseases. Before planting, it is recommended to treat seeds with biological preparations and soak them according to instructions, which promotes better germination and growth.
