Ufimec

Peony Ufimec — a Chinese peony variety developed in the 1960s by scientists of the Botanical Garden-Institute of the Ufa Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Ufa Scientific Center of RAS) through the hybridization of Amabilis Superbissima and Avalanche varieties. The bush reaches a height of up to 60 cm, has a compact, slightly leafy form with weak stems of light anthocyanin color. Leaves are of medium length, green and matte, tri-pinnate. Flowers are semi-double, pink, up to 20 cm in diameter, with obovate petals and divided edges. The peduncle is sturdy; up to 20 flowers may appear on a bush, each lasting 12–13 days in mid-June. The aroma of the flowers is moderate; the variety's decorative value is rated at 92 points. The Ufimec variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and drought resistance, resistance to diseases and pests, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the southern forest-steppe zone. The vegetative period lasts up to 150 days. The peony bears multi-leaved fruit, which allows its use in breeding work and agronomy. It is propagated by bush division and green cuttings, especially effectively when treated with growth stimulators during the bud formation phase. Ufimec is used in landscaping and agriculture, thanks to its decorativeness and durability. This peony variety is suitable for creating floral compositions and decorating gardens, and can also serve as seed material for further breeding. The variety is produced by the Ufa Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden-Institute, which confirms its scientific basis and quality.
