Peony Légion d'Honneur

Ukrainian Botanical Heritage: The Itoh Hybrid Advantage

The 'Lehin Honorovyi' peony is a benchmark of selection work conducted by the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden. As an Itoh hybrid, it successfully merges the hardiness of woody peonies with the ornamental elegance of herbaceous varieties. This cultivar is a high-value asset for landscaping projects where durability, low maintenance, and aesthetic impact are the primary objectives.

Key Botanical Metrics

• Blooming Schedule: Early flowering (May 15–30) allows for early seasonal impact in garden beds.
• Architecture: A robust 90 cm tall bush that maintains its structural integrity without the need for additional staking.
• Flower Profile: Large, 18 cm double white blossoms that serve as excellent focal points.

Strategic Landscaping Application

Designed for resilience, 'Lehin Honorovyi' excels in professional gardening and private estate management. Its early bloom cycle provides immediate visual interest in late spring, bridging the gap between early bulbs and summer perennials. The density and stability of the plant allow for diverse applications: as a dramatic standalone specimen (solitaire) in lawn designs, or integrated into mixed borders alongside grasses and spring shrubs. Given its adaptation to the Ukrainian climate, this variety offers a significant advantage in reducing the labor intensity of long-term plant maintenance, ensuring a consistent and high-quality display year after year.
