Focus F1 onion is a medium-late maturing hybrid of bulb onion of Spanish type, developed by the Dutch brand Hazera. The vegetation period is approximately 115-120 days, allowing for harvest in mid-early season. This hybrid is characterized by high resilience and adaptability, successfully grown on almost all soil types, except clay and clay-iron soils. Focus F1 has a strong root system and well-developed leaf mass with a strong waxy coating, contributing to resistance to stress conditions and diseases such as fusarium, rot, and mosaic.
Focus F1 bulbs have a round shape and a deep red color both on the outside and inside. The average weight of the bulbs ranges from 160 to 200 grams, with a diameter of 7-8.5 cm. The flesh is dense, juicy, and uniform with a pearl-red hue and a pleasant, rich aroma. A distinctive feature of this hybrid is its narrow, closed neck, which prevents internal rotting of bulbs during ripening and storage. The bulbs are covered with 2-3 dry scales, ensuring reliable protection and dry storage.
Focus F1 is intended for long-term storage — up to 10 months without loss of quality. Due to its high resistance to stress and diseases, as well as excellent storage properties, this hybrid is widely used in various regions. Onion transportation is possible without additional packaging, simplifying logistics and reducing costs. The recommended sowing rate is 0.9-0.95 million seeds per hectare, ensuring high productivity and uniform yield.
