Onion Echo

Japanese breeding for the professional market

The «Echo» onion by Sakata embodies the Japanese approach to vegetable growing, combining high technology with the needs of the processing industry. This hybrid has long held a strong position in the mid-late variety segment, offering farmers predictable results even under fluctuating climatic conditions.

Agronomic features and morphology

Visually, «Echo» is easily identified by its characteristic flat-round shape and intense brownish skin color. The dense structure of the bulb makes it a favorite for mechanical harvesting and long-term storage. This morphology is not accidental: Sakata breeders focused on resilience against transportation damage, which is critical for large-scale distribution to retail chains.

Application: from salads to processing

The hybrid demonstrates exceptional versatility, which is rare for the mid-late segment:

• Processing: High dry matter content and dense skin allow «Echo» to be used for drying, semi-finished products, and canning.
• Fresh market (Salad type): Despite its density, «Echo» possesses a pleasant taste suitable for fresh consumption, a quality highly valued in the HoReCa segment.

The reputation of the Sakata brand guarantees high germination rates and uniformity of the marketable yield. In modern agronomy, where every percentage of marketable produce impacts profitability, «Echo» serves as a reliable tool for professional growers focused on stable, high-quality harvests.
