The 'Novost Mikolaichuka' raspberry variety is a plant with minimal thorniness, which facilitates harvesting and care of bushes. The fruits have a balanced sweet-tart flavor and a strong aroma, making them attractive to consumers. Fruit production begins in mid-summer, and the yield of this variety is considered moderate. This raspberry variety is not prone to fruit drop, which helps maintain the harvest until collection.
The variety requires careful attention, as it is sensitive to drought and demands high-quality soil. For successful cultivation, regular watering and selection of fertile, well-drained sites are recommended. Despite its positive qualities, the 'Novost Mikolaichuka' variety is not included in the State Register of Selection Achievements.
One of the main threats to raspberries is septoria, or white spot disease, a fungal disease widespread in Ukraine. The disease manifests as small white spots with brown edges on leaves, appearance of black pycnidia of the fungus, and peeling of stems. Septoria leads to crop loss due to bud death, premature leaf drop, and winter damage to shoots. To combat the disease, agronomic methods such as thinning and tying up bushes, as well as timely spraying with special agents, are used.
