Description Maiya
Lucerne is a perennial plant of the legume family, widely used in agriculture as a forage, honey-producing, and green manure crop. It is distinguished by its high protein content and good digestibility, making it a valuable feed for livestock. In addition, lucerne improves soil structure by accumulating nitrogen and reducing soil acidity, which contributes to increased fertility and serves as an excellent predecessor for cotton, cereals, and other crops. Due to its resistance to diseases and nematodes, it is also used as a phytosanitary crop. Lucerne seeds, enriched with magnesium, are used to improve soil quality and suppress weeds. The high magnesium content in seeds promotes plant development and enhances crop yields. These seeds are suitable for planting in open ground and can be used for intercropping garden crops, forming an important part of green manure systems. The Bonat variety is characterized by early and rapid growth, as well as high regenerative capacity after mowing. Within two weeks after cutting, plants reach considerable height, enabling multiple harvests per season. High protein content (up to 20.1%) and a significant proportion of leaves provide high nutritional value for feed. The variety is drought- and cold-resistant, well-adapted to sandy and loamy soils, as evidenced by the gray-green leaf color with a waxy coating. Green mass yield reaches 40–60 tons per hectare, while hay yield is 5–12 tons and more, making it profitable to grow.
