SMOLICH is a mid-season flax variety intended for the production of flax fiber. The plants reach a height of 60-75 cm and have a medium growing season ranging from 70 to 85 days. The variety is characterized by high resistance to lodging and medium yield: 39.3 c/ha of flax straw and 10.0 c/ha of seeds. The mass of 1000 seeds is 4.9 g. The fiber content in the stems reaches 28.5%, while the output of long fiber is 18.9%, ensuring high spinning properties belonging to the first quality group. To achieve optimal results, intensive cultivation technology is recommended with fertilization at rates of N30P53K93 kg/ha d.w., while the variety poorly tolerates excess nitrogen in the soil.
The SMOLICH variety possesses high resistance to a range of diseases, including fusarium wilt, rust, polysporosis, anthracnose, smut, and bacterial infections. In particular, the Fu 9 resistance gene to Fusarium oxysporum f. lini has been identified in this variety, ensuring reliable protection of plants from this pathogen. Such resistance significantly reduces the risk of yield loss and increases the stability of fiber production.
The breeding of the variety is aimed at increasing yield and fiber quality, taking into account important agronomic indicators: plant height, stem technical length, fiber percentage and flexibility, as well as resistance to lodging and diseases. In addition, the variety is characterized by the non-sticking of inflorescence heads, non-splitting of capsules, and large-seededness, which facilitates harvest collection and processing. All these qualities make SMOLICH an attractive choice for flax fiber producers seeking high efficiency and product quality.
