The «Serpent» flax variety is a medium-maturing type of Linum usitatissimum L. var. intermedia, intended for use in the food industry, specifically for the production of bakery goods, as well as for obtaining flaxseed oil. The variety's vegetative period is about 97 days. The plant is characterized by a medium stem length, a lower branch attachment height of about 31.5 cm, and a light-blue corolla color at full development stage. The seeds are dark brown, with a medium mass of 1000 seeds — 6.2 g, containing 44.5% fat and an iodine number of 208.65, indicating high oil quality. The capsule is of medium size with fringed false septum, and shattering resistance is rated at 4.2 points, ensuring crop preservation.
The «Serpent» variety is distinguished by high yield — an average of 10.9 c/ha in the growing region, with a potential of up to 13.1 c/ha in the Kursk region and maximum indicators of up to 18.0 c/ha under optimal conditions. It is resistant to anthracnose and other diseases, confirmed by the absence of damage in field trials. To achieve maximum productivity, crop rotation with cereal and pulse crops is recommended, as well as fertilizer application at doses of N 60, P 60, K 90. The sowing rate is 5–7 million viable seeds per hectare, which corresponds to 35–45 kg/ha or 500–700 seeds per square meter.
This variety was developed with the requirements of agricultural production in mind and is distinguished by yield stability and seed quality. It is suitable for growing in various regions, providing a reliable raw material source for the food industry and flaxseed oil production. Thanks to its agronomic characteristics and disease resistance, «Serpent» is a profitable choice for farmers seeking high efficiency and product quality.
