ALEKSANDRIT is a mid-late variety of flax (Linum usitatissimum L. f. elongata), developed by the All-Russian Linen Research Institute and included in the State Register for the Northwestern region. The variety is characterized by a medium vegetation period of about 76 days and is intended for the production of flax fiber. The seeds are brown in color, with a 1000-seed mass of 4.5 grams. Flax straw yield reaches 46.3 centners per hectare, and seeds yield 3.2 centners per hectare. Fiber content in the plant is 29.6%, and long fiber output is 26.0%.
The variety is distinguished by good resistance to lodging (4.4 points) and shows resistance to a number of diseases, including anthracnose, bacteriosis, polysporosis, and fusarium wilt. It is recommended for cultivation in the Tver region and other regions of the Northwestern Russia, which confirms its adaptation to local climatic conditions.
ALEKSANDRIT is suitable for industrial cultivation to obtain high-quality flax fiber used in the textile and other industries. Thanks to its agro-technical characteristics and disease resistance, the variety ensures stable yields and high product quality.
