Hallertau Tradition hops – an aromatic variety cultivated in the Hallertau region in Bavaria. It is characterized by moderate bitterness and a fresh, herbaceous aroma with light raisin fruity notes. It contains about 5.9% alpha acids, making it suitable for achieving a bright aroma without excessive bitterness.
The variety is characterized by low humulone content and a sufficient amount of humulene oil, which evaporates quickly during boiling. Therefore, Hallertau Tradition is best used at the end of the boil or during dry hopping – this preserves the earthy and herbaceous character, as well as sweet fruity shades.
Granulated hops are convenient to store due to their compactness and shape retention without chemical binders. With proper vacuum packaging, they retain their properties for three years, making them a popular choice among brewers for producing various beer varieties with moderate bitterness.
