NS 2016

NS 2016 — a tall corn hybrid with a potential yield exceeding 130 c/ha and medium-early maturity. Stem height at flowering reaches 250–270 cm, ensuring good productivity and plant resilience. The hybrid is based on a fertile maternal line, allowing it to inherit the best agronomic traits of its parent forms. Yellow, dent-type kernels form large cylindrical ears up to 25 cm long, containing 14–16 rows of kernels. The 1000-kernel weight varies from 350 to 370 g, and kernels lose moisture intensely during maturation, facilitating harvesting and storage.

NS 2016 exhibits high resistance to temperature fluctuations and drought, making it a reliable choice for various climatic zones. The medium-thickness stem is resistant to lodging at the root and stem levels, as well as to brittleness during maturation. A strong root system promotes healthy, large ears. The hybrid is tolerant to major corn diseases, including gray leaf spot, southern rust, fusarium, and powdery mildew, and is resistant to the corn borer.

Sowing of the hybrid is recommended in prepared soil using either conventional or minimal tillage methods at optimal times. Optimal plant population varies by region: 50–55 thousand/ha for forest-steppe zones, 45–50 thousand/ha for central steppes, and 40–45 thousand/ha for southern and dry steppes. The hybrid NS 2016 has a FAO vegetation period of 280 and is produced by Nerthus in Ukraine, guaranteeing quality and adaptation to local growing conditions.
