Description Prizer
Potato variety Prize is a medium-early table variety with a maturation period of 65 to 80 days. The plant is tall, intermediate type, semi-upright with large open dark green leaves and medium leaf margin waviness. The flower of the plant is large, and the intensity of anthocyanin coloration on the inner side is strong, giving it a distinctive appearance.

The tubers of variety Prize are oval-round in shape with medium-depth eyes, yellow skin, and light-yellow flesh. The mass of marketable tubers varies from 98 to 164 grams, and the number of tubers per plant ranges from 9 to 14. The starch content is in the range of 12.4–17.5%, providing good culinary qualities. The potato is suitable for frying, boiling, and baking, belongs to the culinary type BC, and has good to excellent taste.

The variety is distinguished by high market yield — from 218 to 420 centners per hectare, with maximum yield reaching 486 centners, significantly exceeding the performance of standard varieties. Marketability reaches 86–98%, and storability — 93%. Prize is resistant to potato late blight, phytophthora of stems and tubers, mosaic virus, and leaf curling. However, the variety is susceptible to golden potato cyst nematode. The developer of the variety is the State Research Institute of Potato Growing named after A.G. Lorkha (Russia).
