Iris VORONEZH FAKEL

A striking scarlet accent for your garden

The 'Voronezhsky Fakel' iris is a selection achievement from the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Production, offering a unique aesthetic for professional and amateur landscaping. While many iris hybrids lean towards blue or purple hues, this variety stands out with its intense, fire-red petal color, providing a warm and energetic visual contrast to standard garden plantings.

Key Specifications

• Growth Habit: With a height of 90–120 cm, this iris creates a strong vertical presence, making it an excellent candidate for the middle or back rows of a flower border.
• Bloom Time: The flowers remain vibrant for 15–20 days, providing a concentrated burst of color during the peak season.
• Purpose: Primarily designed for ornamental landscaping and decorative garden groups.

Performance and Considerations

The strength of 'Voronezhsky Fakel' lies in its color stability and local adaptation, developed by breeders S.V. Sycheva and S.N. Derevshchikov. It is a robust choice for those seeking a plant that thrives in varying environmental conditions without the need for constant maintenance. Its primary appeal is its ability to serve as a focal point in any composition.

However, gardeners should be aware of the plant's height. At over a meter tall, the flower stalks can be susceptible to lodging during heavy rains or strong winds, so choosing a sheltered location is advisable for best results. Furthermore, to maintain the intensity of its red hue, the plant requires consistent sunlight exposure and adequate moisture during the bud-setting phase. This variety is perfect for designers looking to introduce high-impact, warm tones into their landscape architecture.
