Siberian Iris «Toropyzhka» is a compact shrub up to 55 cm tall, distinguished by its vivid blue-violet flowers with a diameter of about 10 cm. The blooms are arranged in saucer-shaped buds that droop to the side, typically forming 15 to 30 flowers per bush. The outer petals feature a white-blue spot, while a small white mark is noticeable at the flower's center, giving it a characteristic appearance.
«Toropyzhka» plants have leaves about 32 cm tall and grow to 50–55 cm during full bloom. The scapes are long – up to 50 cm, and the flowers themselves sit above the foliage, creating an effect of airy balance. The blooming period lasts about two weeks (13–14 days), starting in mid-June, making this variety popular for decorative gardens and landscape design.
The variety was developed at SPK «Plemhoz Taytsy» with the participation of scientists Z.V. Dolganova and K.S. Popova and received the status of an officially registered variety in Russia in 1996. It belongs to the resonant blue iris varieties, ensuring resistance to various climatic conditions of Siberia and making it an ideal choice for gardeners seeking a reliable and beautiful decorative element.
