Iris Elf

A compact accent for your garden

When planning a landscape, you are always looking for plants that do not overwhelm the space but still catch the eye. The 'Elf' iris by 'FANCA' is exactly such a case. With a height of 30–50 cm, this variety fits perfectly into the foreground of borders and thrives in container plantings. Unlike tall bearded irises, which tend to lean over from wind or heavy rain, 'Elf' stands firmly, maintaining a neat appearance throughout the season.

Maintenance and care

For a garden owner, it is important to know how demanding a flower is. Based on the selection from a French originator, this variety is well-adapted to temperate latitudes. It is undemanding in care:

• Minimum need for staking thanks to sturdy stems.
• The flowering period is 10–15 days — a perfect balance for decorative irises, allowing you to enjoy the color without dealing with long-lasting petal decay.
• Good response to moderate watering without water stagnation in the root zone.

Practical planting tips

When planting 'Elf', keep its compactness in mind. It dislikes being crowded out by neighbors, so it is best to place it in open, well-lit areas. The plant responds well to soil aeration, which is the only real maintenance requirement. Otherwise, it is low-effort: after flowering, simply trim the stem so the bush retains its decorative foliage form until autumn.
