Hazelnut Sofiyivskyi 2

Reliable Ukrainian hazelnut selection

The «Sofiivsky 2» hazelnut is a product of long-term breeding by the NDP «Sofiivka» (National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). This variety is designed for commercial orchards and private farms where consistent yield and marketability are the top priorities.

Practical application and cultivation

• Orchard management: The variety thrives in the Ukrainian climate and features a compact crown structure, allowing for denser planting schemes which maximize land efficiency.
• Fruit quality: The nuts are characterized by a consistent round shape and an average weight of 2.5–3 grams. This uniformity is highly valued by processing facilities, as it ensures efficiency during automated cleaning and packing operations.
• Harvesting and processing: The shell structure is robust, which minimizes kernel damage during mechanical harvesting, making it a reliable choice for mechanized agricultural operations.

Choosing «Sofiivsky 2» is a strategic move for those looking to invest in long-term nut production. Due to its regional origin, the variety shows high resistance to local pathogens, reducing the need for intensive chemical treatments. With proper irrigation and formative pruning, the variety delivers predictable and stable yields, establishing itself as a low-risk, productive asset for professional growers.
