Sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus), also known as sweet pea, – an annual climbing plant from the legume family that can reach a height of one to two meters. Its branched shoots are covered with tendrils and easily cling to any support, making it an ideal choice for vertical greening: decorating fences, balconies, flowerbeds, and even lawns.
Pea flowers have a characteristic irregular shape, gathered in a loose raceme. Depending on the variety, petals can be lavender or any other color range – from light pink to bright red and white. Each bouquet emits a rich aroma, which persists even after the plant has been cut.
Peas prefer fertile, light, and moist soils, but they also tolerate cold well and can grow in moderately shaded areas. Seeds are usually sown in spring – in April‑May – directly into the open ground. Thanks to long and intensive flowering, as well as high resistance to unfavorable conditions, this variety is widely used for decorative purposes, as well as for creating living compositions, pyramidal ensembles, and decorating various garden elements.
