Description Karat
The Karat blackcurrant variety is an early-maturing and high-yielding cultivar developed by the Lviv branch of the Institute of Horticulture of UAAN. The bushes are medium-sized, dense, oval or egg-shaped with a small number of thorns, which simplifies care and harvesting. The shoots are strong and upright, with single thorns evenly distributed along their length. The variety is distinguished by high frost resistance and resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew and shot hole disease, making it a reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions.

The berries of the Karat blackcurrant are large, ellipsoid or round-oval in shape, weighing from 4.7 to 8 grams. They have an attractive red or light burgundy color with a waxy bloom and slight pubescence. The skin is thin, and the flesh is juicy, tender, and has a refreshing sour-sweet taste rated 4.8-5 points. The berries detach dryly, which is convenient for harvesting and transportation. High commercial quality makes this variety popular for fresh consumption as well as for freezing.

The Karat variety begins fruiting already in the second year after planting, with yields per bush reaching 4-5 kg. Due to the combination of high productivity, excellent taste, and resistance to adverse factors, the Karat blackcurrant is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking high-quality and stable yields.
